Posted by #TeamTick on 15th Aug 2024
Rob Dahm tackled Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in his 3-Rotor RX7 featuring our Ultimate Sequential Transmission in partnership with Tremec and Pfitzner Performance Gear. Rob faces challenges during the qualifying run, including losing boost and overheating issues, but manages to qualify within seconds of Mad Mike's time.
Rob also discusses the preparations for the race, including addressing overheating issues and cooling system concerns. Despite setbacks such as a failed power steering belt and a water-cooled e-gate turning off due to radiated heat, the team remains optimistic and determined to participate in the race. Robby Unser offers advice on managing the car's heating issue through the "lifting and coasting" technique. The Rob deliberately held back during the race to conserve energy and make it to the top, successfully completing the challenging course.
Rob Dahm sets a new record time of 11:04 for the fastest 3-Rotor RX7 up the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb mountain. Rob used his rally skills and racing school experience to complete the course. He faced terrifying experiences, including the car getting airborne twice on long straightaways and bouncing uncontrollably in a challenging area called Boulder Park. Despite these obstacles, his achievement was met with congratulations and admiration from the crowd, leaving him feeling elated and already looking forward to next year's competition.
