Mark Payne makes his way into Top Sportsman Competition
Posted by Corey Stamper on 3rd May 2018
After getting the build complete here at Tick Performance and getting a base tune of over 1500whp, it was time for Mark Payne to take his "House of Payne" Top Sportsman Cavalier into competition in the PDRA and NHRA!!! First event with Jonathan at the tuning helms, Mark was able to cross into the 4.3x-4.2x range between 165-175mph at the PDRA Season Opener at Galot Motorsports Park. Even though Mark did not get the win, valuable data was acquired for the next stop.
Mark would return to competition with NHRA Divisional Points race at Virginia Motorsports Park for his second race in Top Sportsman competition with the new LSX Twin Turbo setup. Jonathan had his hands full this time switching from 1/8th mile to 1/4 mile, netting a string of high 6.6x passes between 213-215mph. Mark would finish runner up in Top Sportsman and win the "Best Engineering Award" proving this twin turbo combination can be not only physical force with mph but also very consistent in elapsed time. Make sure to check out the House of Payne team's next stop at PDRA Maryland May 3rd-5th!!!!!!
